Antiques (i.e. items that are more than 100 years old) can be exempt of duty when imported into South Africa. In order to meet South African Revenue Services requirements and avoid paying unnecessary duty, importers must provide Customs and Excise with a verified Clearance Certificate, certifying their age and origin.
